Gwend

gwend or gwenn is a Sindarin noun with two meanings:

1. "bond, friendship"
2. "maiden". Compare with the Quenya suffix -wen

It is related to the verb gwedh, meaning "to bind".

Examples:

• Arwen = "Noble Maiden"
• Morwen = "Dark Maiden"
