Haldir was Chieftain of the Haladin in Brethil. He married Glóredhel of the House of Hador ad they had a son named Handir and fostered their nephews Húrin and Huor during their childhood years.

Haldir was slain in the Nírnaeth Arnoediad ("Battle of Unnumbered Tears") and succeeded by his son Handir as the Chieftain of the Haladin.
