Months in the Shire Calendar |
---|
Halimath was the nineth month of the Shire Calendar, following Wedmath and approximately equivalent to modern September. In fact, it ran from modern 23 August to 21 September in a normal year.
Etymology
The name represents a modernization of the Old English name for September, hāliġmōnaþ meaning "holy month" (referring to pagan sacrifices).[1][2]
