The Hill Road was a road in the Shire which led from Hobbiton to Overhill, and went over the Hill past Bag End.[1] On the evening of 23 September T.A. 3018[2] Frodo Baggins walked partly down Hill Road in anxious expectation of Gandalf's arrival. While there he heard the old Gaffer talking to some stranger with an unpleasant voice, just around the corner on Bagshot Row.[3]

Portrayal in adaptations

2002: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (video game):

Robin Smallburrow lives at 9, Hill Road, though all the other houses and holes in the street are said to be on Bagshot Row.
