Holbytla (pl. Holbytlan) means 'hole-dweller', the legendary creatures known among the Northmen and the Rohirrim.

'Holbytlan' derived the word 'Hobbit' in Westron.

It is the Old English translation of Rohirric Kûd-dûkan, which itself derived the word Kuduk
