Ilmarë (Q, pron. [ˈilmare]) was a Maia and the handmaiden to Varda. She is only mentioned briefly in the Valaquenta, where she is described as one of the chiefs of the Maiar.[1]

In The Book of Lost Tales Part One it is implied to be the daughter of Manwë and Varda.

Etymology

Her name may is one of the Quenya words for "Starlight".[2] It is related to such words as Ilmen and Ilmarin[3]
