Imladris is the Sindarin name of the location known as Rivendell, meaning "flat-floared valley of the Cleft"[1]

Etymology

The name is composed of imlad "deep valley" and riss "ravine".

Form Imladrist is also given (archaic or alternative), pointing to the element rist[1]
