Revision as of 15:57, 16 February 2013

This is an attempt to list all published writings (including letters, transcribed interviews and statements, etc.) of J.R.R. Tolkien appearing in books, periodicals, ephemera and online, in a chronological order of publication.[1] For a list of his major books, see the bibliography section on the J.R.R. Tolkien page.

  • Note 1: For ease of reference (and because many items do not have an exact date of publication), works are sorted alphabetically under each year.
  • Note 2: The list does not (in general) include reprints.
  • Note 3: Publications, with only a vague contribution by Tolkien, or which are questionable, disputed, or with an unknown publication status or similiar, are enclosed with parentheses.
  • Note 4: Non-English publications are only listed if these contain material published for the first time.
