This is an attempt to list all the published writings (including letters and transcribed interviews) of J.R.R. Tolkien appearing in books, periodicals and ephemera, in chronological order.[1] For a list of his major books, see the bibliography section on the J.R.R. Tolkien page.

  • Note 1: For ease of reference (and because many items do not have an exact date of publication), works are sorted alphabetically under each year
