Katharyn Crabbe (1945) was Associate Professor of English at Sonoma State University, before taking on the office of Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management there. She retired in August 2007.
At the time of her publication of J.R.R. Tolkien in 1982, Crabbe used F. as middle initial (as in Katharyn F. Crabbe). In 1988, at the time of her publication of the revised edition of the same book, she had changed her middle initial to W. (as in Katharyn W. Crabbe).
