Letter 170 is a letter written by J.R.R. Tolkien and published in The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien.


This fragment of a letter, dated September 30, 1955, was addressed to Allen & Unwin. The fragment Christopher Tolkien and Humphrey Carpenter chose consists only of two sentences: "When is Vol. III likely now to appear? I shall be murdered if something does not happen soon."
