Letter 273 is a letter written by J.R.R. Tolkien and published in The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien.

This fragment of a letter, date July 21, 1965, was sent to Nan C. Scott. Mrs. Scott was on a campaign against Ace Books, who had produced a pirate edition in the United States. Tolkien thanks her, because he doesn't have time to fight pirate editions himself, and informs her that he is in negotiations with Ballantine Books about an authorized paperback, to be released in the US.
