Letter 291 is a letter written by J.R.R. Tolkien and published in The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Summary

This letter, dated November 22, 1966, was sent to Walter Hooper. Mr. Hooper had sent a new volume of C.S. Lewis' writings, Of Other Words. Tolkien writes a two-sentence response, with a post scriptum saying how short that reply is. He comments on Lewis' dualistic mind, and calls "miserific vision" rationally nonsense and theologically blasphemous.
