Summary

This fragment of a letter, dated 22 July 1925, was sent to the Vice Chancellor of Leeds University. Tolkien informs the Vice Chancellor that he has been elected to the Rawlinson and Bosworth professorship at Oxford, and therefore is tendering his resignation. He apologises for the brevity of his appointment at Leeds, where he had only been working five years.
