Joy Hill 5 January 1967 is a letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to Joy Hill, written on 5 January 1967.[1]
- Subject: Tolkien thanks Hill for sending a copy of The Children's Treasury of Literature which included a chapter from The Hobbit, illustrated by Robert J. Lee. Tolkien did not like the illustrations at all, calling them vulgar and stupid. He ends the letter by discussing his Beowulf lecture.
