On 2 May 1955, J.R.R. Tolkien wrote a letter to Miss Turnbull in Whitby, Yorkshire.[1]
- Contents: Tolkien writes that he is currently "putting final touches on the third volume of The Lord of the Rings (evidently in Appendices D and E)."[1] He remarks that delays in the publication of The Return of the King have been his fault, not the publishers. Furthermore, Tolkien mentions other writings.[2]
