On 8 November 1959, J.R.R. Tolkien wrote a letter to Naomi Mitchison.[1][2]
- Subject: Tolkien notes that much of the early part of The Lord of the Rings was written in Sidmouth.[2] He regrets not being able to meet Mitchison.[3]
- Description: Two pages.[3]
- Publication: Extracts from the letter appeared in Biblioasis One, or The Quencher (Melissa and Mark Hime, 1980), and was described in Sotheby's Valuable Autograph Letters, Literary Manuscripts and Historical Documents 12-13 December 1977.
