Lindórië was one of the Faithful of Númenor, being the daughter of the fourteenth Lord of Andúnië (and the sister of Eärendur, the fifteenth Lord of that line).
Lindórië was born during the dark times of Númenor when the Númenorians, led by their Kings were turning against the Valar. However she belonged to the Faithful and instilled her beliefs in her daughter Inzilbêth, who passed these beliefs on to her elder son Inziladûn. Due to this upbringing, when Lindórië's grandson took the Sceptre of Númenor, he adopted the name Tar-Palantir in Quenya and attempted to reverse the influences of the King's Men.[2][3]

Etymology
Lindórië's name is Quenya, but its meaning is hard to deduce with certainty. It may come from the roots linda 'fair', -órë 'rising'; or perhaps rië 'crown' and -ië, a suffix verb form used as an adjective; "Rising Beauty" or "High Crown of Fair Beauty" (i.e. 'golden-haired').[source?]
