Mîr

mîr means "jewel" in Sindarin. In Quenya, -mir is a short form of mírë, which also means "jewel" (in names like Ardamir, Tar-Atanamir).

Examples:

• Míriel = "Jewel-daughter" (Quenya)
• Ardamir = "Jewel of Arda" (Quenya)
• Boromir = "Faithful Jewel" (Sindarin)
