Messrs Grubb, Grubb and Burrowes was a notary firm in the Shire led by two Grubbs and one Burrowes. They were probably lawyers or auctioneers.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

Grubb, Grubb and Burrowes oversaw the auction of Bilbo Baggins' estate after the hobbit went missing in S.R. 1341.[2]

Other versions of the legendarium[edit | edit source]

In early drafts of The Lord of the Rings, Messrs. Iago Grubb and Folco Burrowes are Frodo's (at that stage called Bingo) lawyers and eject Sancho Proudfoot who was trying to steal from the pantry in the chaos of hobbits trying to collect their parting gifts from Bilbo.[3]

Portrayal in adaptations[edit | edit source]
