Monday (archaic form Monendei) was the third day of the week in the Shire Calendar. It was dedicated to the Moon, representing the Númenórean day Orithil.[1]

After the reform of Isengrim Took II,[1] 1 May and 1 November always fell on this day.

[edit] Etymology

Monday represents an archaic Hobbitish form "Monendei", a word preserved in the Yellowskin. It is dedicated to the Moon.[1]

Monday is translated as "Monday" in The Lord of the Rings.[1]
