Náin I (Third Age 18321981, lived 149 years) was the son of Durin VI and King of Durin's folk.[1]

History

During his time the Dwarves of Durin's folk lived in Khazad-dûm, but had awoken a Balrog. The Balrog slew Náin's father and was thereafter known as Durin's Bane. Náin ruled for only one year, attempting to hold out against the Balrog but shortly thereafter he also found his death by in 1981, being the last true King of Khazad-dûm until Durin VII and Last in the Fourth Age.

Under his son Thráin's direction, Durin's folk fled their ancestral home for safety in Lonely Mountain and the Grey Mountains.[1]

Náinn is a dwarf from the Dvergatal. It means "Corpselike".[2]
