New Line Cinema, founded in 1967, is one of the ten major Hollywood movie studios. It is a subsidiary of Warner Bros. which is a subsidiary of Time Warner. The current co-chairmen and co-CEOs are founder Robert Shaye and Michael Lynne.
The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy has New Line Cinema to thank for funding them, something which other film companies were afraid to do.
