In an early stage of the legendarium, Nielthi was an Elfmaid of Melian (then named Gwendelin), who was mentioned fleetingly in the tale of The Nauglafring. She was fleeing from Thingol's (then named Tinwelint) realm due to an attack by orcs and dwarves. At the same time, she tried to encourage her queen by praising her magic that protected the realm.
