Norman Bird (1920 - 2005) was a British character actor, known on stage, cinema and television for many different roles. Since the 1950's, he made guest appearances in wellknown series as The Saint and Z Cars, playing mostly civil servants and policemen. In 1978, Bird provided the voice of Bilbo Baggins in Ralph Bakshi's The Lord of the Rings. His last major feature was a bit part in Shadowlands, a film about C.S. Lewis.
