Ornendil was the elder son of King Eldacar of Gondor.
History
During the Kin-strife, Castamir the Usurper besieged Osgiliath. Though Eldacar managed to escape, Ornendil was captured, and put to death by Castamir. Eldacar managed to avenge his son's death ten years later.
Etymology
Ornendil means "Friend of the Trees" in Quenya (from ornë = "tree" and -ndil = "friend, devoted to").
