pêl (plural peli) is a Noldorin noun meaning "fenced field".[1][2]
The word pêl or pel often appear as a suggested Neo-Sindarin word, retaining the same meaning.[3][4]
Etymology
The word is a descendant form of Old Noldorin pele, deriving from root PEL(ES). Tolkien also notes the word tūn ("fenced field"; identified as Old English by Christopher Tolkien) in connection with pêl.[1]
