Paran

From Tolkien Gateway

paran in Sindarin means "shaven, smooth (for hills without trees)".[1]

Etymology

The word derives from a possible Old Sindarin *parana.

The root is not easy to determine; the two possible roots it would be derived from (PAR "assemble, collect" and KWAR "fist") would be ruled out since they are unconnected to the meaning of "shave/smooth".Template:Or
