Perry-the-Winkle was a humorous poem written by Samwise Gamgee and recorded in the Red Book. It speaks about the Lonely Troll and three Hobbits, which were perhaps based on real Hobbits.[1]

Etymology

Periwinckle is a marine mollusc and a creeping plant.[2]
