Pippin Gardner (born S.R. 1429, Fo.A. 8) was the third son, and fifth child, of Samwise Gamgee and Rose Cotton.
As with many of Sam's children, Pippin has been given the name of one of Sam's friends, in this case he is named after Thain Peregrin "Pippin" Took, Sam's companion in the Fellowship of the Ring.
