Plaques and Memorials is a list of blue plaques and memorials installed in public places of United Kingdom to commemorate a link between that location and J.R.R. Tolkien and his family. Often made by The Tolkien Society and local institucions.

2 Darnley Road, West Park

The text of the plaque reads:

J.R.R. TOLKIEN CBE Academic and author lived here between 1924 and 1925. While Reader, later Professor, at the University of Leeds 1920-1925, he collaborated on a new edition of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Tolkien went on to write The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. 1892-1973 [4]

Brooklands Officers’ Hospital, Hull, East Yorkshire

The blue plaque reads:


J.R.R. Tolkien Author of the Lord of the Rings convalesced here (then Brooklands Officers’ Hospital) 1917 - 1918 during his service in The Great War.[5]

Hotel Miramar, East Overcliff Drive, Bournemouth

The text of the plaque reads:

Bank Terrace, Hornsea

Reads an iron plaque engraved in English and Afrikaans:

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, was born on this site on 3 January 1892. [8]

In the chapel of Exeter College, Oxford, there is a bust of J.R.R. Tolkien made by Faith Tolkien. Above the bust reads:
