RAN is a Common Eldarin root signifying "wander, stray, meander, go on uncertain course".[1] There is also an alternative form of the root, RĂNĂ, said to signify "wander".[2]

- Primitive Quendian: (a)raniā ("free, [?uncontrolling]")[4][note 1]
