Sindarin/Noldorin
rant is a Sindarin noun meaning "course".[1] The Noldorin (an earlier conception of Sindarin) word rant has the additional glosses "river-bed, lode, vein".[2]
Etymology
In the Etymologies, Noldorin rant derives from root RAT ("walk").[2]

- Celebrant, "silver-course"[3] or, more usually, "Silverlode";[4] a river which flows out of Dimrill Dale and through Lothlórien
