Ring-bearer was a title given to a person who, for some time in their life, bore the One Ring.

Individual ring-bearers

  • Sauron, the original Ring-bearer. II c. 1600 to 3441 (~1841 years)
  • Isildur II 3441 to III 2 (~2 years)
  • Déagol III c. 2463 (briefly)
  • Sméagol III c. 2463 to 2941 and briefly on III 25 March 3019 (~478 years)
  • Bilbo Baggins III 2941 to 22 September 3001 (~60 years)
  • Frodo Baggins III 22 September 3001 to 26 September 3018, 26 September 3018 to 13 March 3019, and III 14 March 3019 to 25 March 3019 (17 and a half years)
  • Tom Bombadil III 26 September 3019 (briefly)
  • Samwise Gamgee III 13 March 3019 to 14 March 3019 (about a day)
