A Seer, or Prophet, was a Man (or Elf) gifted with extreme forsight. Two are named in Tolkien's legendarium:
- Amnon of the First Age, who predicted the Fall of Gondolin
- Malbeth of the mid-Third Age, who predicted that Arvedui would be the last king of Arthedain and also forsaw the fate of the People of the Dead.
