Stock was a town in the north of the Marish, lying on the Stockbrook stream near to the banks of the River Brandywine in the Eastfarthing of the Shire.[1]

During Frodo's journey to Buckland, Frodo announced that he wished to straight across country to the Bucklebury Ferry. Pippin objected to the short cut, and then mentioned that The Golden Perch in Stock had the finest beer in the Eastfarthing. The hobbits avoided Stock in order to keep Pippin away from The Golden Perch to prevent their journey from being delayed.[2]
