Sunlands is the name in the folklore of the hobbits that refers to the far southern lands, the Harad. At the Black Gate, when Samwise Gamgee sung the song on the Oliphaunt he told to Gollum:

"But I've heard tales of the big folk down away in the Sunlands. Swertings we call 'em in our tales; and they ride on oliphaunts, 'tis said, when they fight.
(LoTR II, book 4, chapter 3)

N.B. Sunlands is not to be confounded with Sunlending, the name of Anórien in Rohirric.
