Talk:Amon Sûl

From Tolkien Gateway

Merge with Weathertop

Amon Sûl is definitely worth keeping on its own as the article can elaborate on the term, Amon Sûl, and not the location. However if the merge wishes to place the main article here and leave Weathertop with simply information about its name I would disagree. The standard has been to place the article at the name which was used the most in Tolkien's works, I believe Weathertop wins but if not and Amon Sûl is used more than we can move the main article here. --Hyarion 12:23, 13 June 2007 (EDT)

I think the main article should be at Weathertop, as to most Tolkien fans this is its best-known name. We could have the pre-Third Age information here and the Third Age info at Weathertop, but I think that would be splitting it up too much. I vote for Weathertop. --Narfil Palùrfalas 12:45, 13 June 2007 (EDT)
Well both Amon and Sûl both already have separate entries so saving a page just to put them together i dont particularly favour. I'm rather impartial as to which name becomes the article though. Technicality somewhat prefers keeping Amon Sûl as the article over Weathertop since it is a more technical term and compliments most other hill articles. On the other hand Weathertop is, at least from a Lord of the Rings standpoint, the most commonly used term and complements the Weather Hills which frankly i dont even know the elvish name for (Emyn something or other).
