Why 'fresh river' (No source mentioned)? Reading the Etymologies I suppose -wen is derived from Ilkorin gwene 'green' even if the Quenya and Noldorin (Sindarin) words derived from GWEN- may mean 'fresh'. See HoME V, p. 359. --Tik 06:53, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
