I removed two unnessecary images. Hope this was ok. Unsigned comment by Caranthir33 (talk • contribs).

I think it is ok, but please sign when you write on a talkpage. You only need to click on --~~~~ below. --LorenzoCB 19:22, 19 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The statement that Ithilien was the only part of Gondor east of the river Anduin should be deleted, because South Gondor (Harondor) is also east of the river Anduin and was a part of Gondor during the history of Gondor and was deserted at the time of the War of the Ring. The statement that the river Poros was one of the borders of Ithilien should be changed that the Poros was possibly the southern border of Ithilien, because Tolkien does not show he borders on the map (except in the shire) and did not specify the borders of Ithilien. Also the statement about the northern border of Ithilien should be changed from "must have been" to "was probably". --Akhorahil 12:48, 20 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I am happy that the user Sage seems to have read my comments on the talk page. However just adding "(except Harondor)" to the statement that Ithilien was the only part of Gondor east of the river does not make that statement true and thus does not fix this error. Large parts of Rhûn east of the Anduin were also part of Gondor (see LOTR Appendix A (I) (iv) entry on King Ciryaher "The realm then extended north to the field of Celebrant and the southern eaves of Mirkwood; west to the Greyflood; east to the inland sea of Rhûn; south to the river Harnen, and thence along the coast to the peninsula and haven of Umbar." As a consequence, I recommend that the whole Statement about Ithilien being the only part of Gondor east of the river Anduin should be deleted. --Akhorahil 16:25, 20 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I am not happy that the user Mith deleted information about Ithilien from the portrayals in adaptions section from MERP modules. I think it is useful to know that there is further information about Ithilien and what kind of information is in those MERP modules as far as it concerns Ithilien. The fact that is is in the Portrayals in adaptions section makes it clear that this can also include non-canon information. MERP contains very detailed information and younger readers may not be aware of it. --Akhorahil 15:14, 11 October 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

This page would have required a lot of obvious cleaning up other than deleting information without prior discussion. There are duplicate references that could be combined with a ref name tag. There is at least one statement, that is probably not supported by one of the references (I will Check that). There are errors in the info box. It is a nuisance if one spends time to search for and add information and it is then deleted by another user without prior announcement or discussion. --Akhorahil 15:25, 11 October 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Unfortunately I can't do anything about your displeasure: editors change other people's content all the time without discussion - you will need to get used to it, I'm afraid.
On the issue of the deletions: it wasn't useful content. It was a list and frankly just trivia. It isn't actually telling us how Ithilien was portrayed in those adaptations (the title of the section). This isn't the place for it: we are Tolkien Gateway and not Tolkien Adaptations Gateway, and we have long had a rule that portrayals sections need to be proportionate with the rest of the article and the importance of the concept, which this one wasn't.
I stand by my decision. --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 16:02, 11 October 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I agree that, while I appreciate your attention to details, the information you included for MERP Ithilien was disproportionately overdetailed. I don't see how it is useful for the average visitor, if they aren't a dedicated collector or archiver. You can collect such information in your personal sandbox (I maintain the small index User:Sage/Obscure_locations), or join a more appropriate wiki like http://merp.wikia.com/, or even better, create some dedicated blog. (Note: In case you worry about your hard work, don't worry, you can recover your edits if you look at the "History" tab of the article, and salvage your work in order to use it somewhere else.)
