Fanon?[edit source]

The article contains the following formulation, which appears a bit "fanon" to me (after having investigated some sources, though I might have missed something): "Legends claimed that they were descended from the cattle of the Huntsman of the Valar, Oromë himself, and so they were named the Kine of Araw (Araw being the Sindarin form of Oromë's name)." Perhaps we could just rephrase the sentence. --Morgan 18:14, 13 March 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Aurochs[edit source]

Considering Hammond and Scull's mention of the unpublished note on aurochs, I just wonder if it's a mere coincidence (or should we say logical conclusion) that some adaptations (e.g., LOTRO and MERP) have a beast called aurochs/aurych/auroch (at least the MERP appearance predates Hammond and Scull's mention)? Is there a published source which mentions aurochs? I've also heard that copies of unpublished manuscripts have been spread among Tolkien fans - perhaps this was the case behind the appearance in MERP? --Morgan 18:28, 13 March 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
