Which Kindred of Elves?[edit source]

Does anyone know whether Maeglin was considered a Sindar or a Noldor? His father was a Sindar, and I think the kindred is based on the paternal line, but his mother was of Noldor nobility. Anyone willing to hazard a guess? --Ebakunin 13:12, 29 June 2006 (EDT)

Well, since it can be assumed he took after his father, I would guess him to be a Sindar. However, he did dwell in a Noldorin stronghold, was a close relative to the king, and was considered one of the Noldorin princes. From that viewpoint I would guess him a Noldo. It can go either way, I guess. --Narfil Palùrfalas 17:58, 29 June 2006 (EDT)
I second Narfil's idea. Maeglin should have a 'Sindar' infobox. - IvarTheBoneless (talk) 17:08, 13 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It was never said that Maeglin became a Noldorin prince but that he “had risen to be mighty among the princes of the Noldor”. That can be interpreted in different ways but does not verify anything.
I would agree that the infobox should be Sinda primarily because his father was one. JR Snow (talk) 10:21, 14 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
