Lord of the West[edit source]

I removed his title as "Lord of the West". I can't find it in the published Silmarillion. The plural form refers to the Valar in general. Sage 10:16, 26 November 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Not in the published Silmarillion, but in the Unfinished Tales (2.III., The Line of Elros, p. 222) the titles held by Ar-Adûnakhôr are told to be blashphemous, "for they signified 'Lord of the West', by which title they [= the Faithful] had been wont to name one of the great Valar only, Manwë in especial." Thus we might call Manwë "in especial" the "Lord of the West", even if the title is not elsewhere used in singlular. --Tik 10:30, 14 April 2016 (UTC)

Eru[edit source]

"Manwë was the Ainu dearest to Eru, closest to his mind..." Is it explicitly stated that he is closest to him in mind?

Perhaps these: "Yet the Elves believe that Men are often a grief to Manwë, who knows most of the mind of Ilúvatar" (Ainulindalë); "but Manwë is dearest to Ilúvatar and understands most clearly his purposes." (Valaquenta). --Tik 10:20, 14 April 2016 (UTC)

Viceregent/Vicegerent[edit source]

Viceregent/Vicegerent are two separate things and aren't interchangeable. One or the other should describe Manwe. Unsigned comment by 97.91.70.111 (talk).
