I have a question concerning the statement that the change from '''Chîn''' to '''Hîn''' was to prevent the pronunciation of it like English ''Chin''.  Shouldn't we give how it is really supposed to be pronounced (I don't know)? --[[User:Narfil Palùrfalas|Narfil Palùrfalas]] 08:06, 4 June 2006 (EDT)

I have a question concerning the statement that the change from Chîn to Hîn was to prevent the pronunciation of it like English Chin. Shouldn't we give how it is really supposed to be pronounced (I don't know)? --Narfil Palùrfalas 08:06, 4 June 2006 (EDT)

While I think Hîn should have its own article stating that it was coined by Christopher Tolkien to prevent mistakes in the pronunciation of the word, I definitely think the Narn i Chîn Húrin article should not be moved. If it's something that CT regretted, and is the actual usage JRRT wanted then we should most definitely leave it be. --Hyarion 13:02, 4 June 2006 (EDT)
My question was, in short, how is "Chîn" pronounced? Sorry if I was unclear. --Narfil Palùrfalas 13:21, 4 June 2006 (EDT)
Ah sorry, I'm still waking up :) "Chîn" should be pronounced much like "Hîn" the "î" being a short "ee" sound, but it certainly is not like "chin." Ardamir will try and create a mp3 of the pronunciation for this article as it can be quite confusing and is difficult to explain. --Hyarion 13:34, 4 June 2006 (EDT)
