Talk:Rose Cotton

I am making minor changes to the Rose Cotton page. The first change I am making is in the paragraph about "Youth" and the Shire Year Rose Cotton was born. Currently, it states that she was born in 1384, when the correct year is 2984. The second correction I am making is under "Fourth Age," where currently only 11 (excluding the first born, Elanor, who is already mentioned under "War of the Ring") of Rose's children are listed. I will be adding "Goldilocks" who is missing from the list of children. She was born after Pippin, and in the Fourth Age 10.

I found information regarding Goldilocks on Wiki.com The URL Address for this information is: http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Goldilocks_%28Gardner%29_Took

I do not know how to code Goldilocks as a link within the list of Rose's children. I hope someone on this site knows how and can edit that part for me and everyone here. So, for now, I will just be adding Goldilocks in regular text, so that at least she is correctly added to the names of the children that Rose and Sam Gamgee had.

Also, below is information regarding Goldilocks and her future, if someone here could create a page for her and then link her name on Rose Cotton's page, would be awesome!

Thank You,

Juliet_at_heart

Goldilocks Took: (SR 1431–?) was the 3rd daughter of Master Samwise Gamgee and his wife Rosie Cotton. She was one of the children Frodo predicted for Sam before leaving Middle-earth. In SR 1463, she married Faramir Took I, son of Peregrin Took, Thain of the Shire. Faramir became Thain in SR 1484, when his father left for Gondor.

Hi Juliet, thanks for your help. Note: I believe her birth date was actually correct in the Shire Reckoning which is Third Age - 1600. I've linked Goldilocks by doing this "[[Goldilocks Gardner|Goldilocks]]". This tells the wiki to display just the text "Goldilocks" but link to the page "Goldilocks Gardner". --Hyarion 05:57, 2 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Must've missed Goldilocks. Thanks. Juliet, check Help:Editing :). -- Ederchil (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 13:12, 2 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Would not "Rosie Cotton" be a more appropriate name?-- KingAragorn  talk  contribs  edits  email  13:46, 16 June 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The main body of the article refers to "Rosie" although the smaller sections refer to "Rose". Other articles tend to refer to "Rose" although the image category is "Rosie". Within the The Lord of the Rings references to "Rosie" outnumber "Rose" by 15 to 11 (so not entirely clear-cut).
Although I think she is more commonly known as Rosie Cotton by readers, on the basis that Merry is "Meriadoc Brandbuck" then I don't think this should be moved. (Unless we want to change the convention for hobbit names, which might be worth looking at). --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 12:31, 16 July 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I have changed my opinion on the above and I think this should be moved to Rosie Cotton. --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 21:42, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
