I've moved the "Shire Reckoning" redirect from "Shire Calendar" to here. This is on the basis that - as Hammond and Scull recognise - Tolkien himself uses "Shire-reckoning" more often (but Hammond and Scull use "Shire Reckoning" to conform with "Stewards' Reckoning", "Kings' Reckoning" and "New Reckoning".

Also, I notice that "Shire Reckoning" is sometimes used to refer to both the calendar and count of years, and sometimes to just the count of years. I favour following the "Shire-reckoning = count of years only" usage so as to keep the two things tidy and separate, as well as not confusing the readers (obviously the two articles would link to one another).

I was wondering if people agree/disagree with my stance on these two issues; I think it's probably best to get a bit of consensus on this as I think they're quite important articles (especially vis-à-vis Template:SR). --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 00:39, 14 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
