Renaming[edit source]

This page is very confusing for readers and is not written according to Tolkien Gateway's standards. When I read the sources, which are provided as references on this page, I discovered that the name Taliska is only used in The Lhammas in The Lost Road and Other writings, which are very early writings and that the name Taliska is not used in later writings. As the page is written now, readers get the impression that the name Taliska is also used in the other newer sources. In my opinion, the name Taliska should only be used in the Other versions of the legendarium section and perhaps the page should be renamed (i.e. moved) and a Taliska page should only redirect to the Other versions of the legendarium section of this page. --Akhorahil (talk) 15:21, 16 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Which name do you propose then, Akhorahil? I think the term "Ancient Adûnaic" would be the most fitting one. --Ar-Zigûr (talk) 09:19, 17 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'd have the same term used by Eldamo: Edain (language). But any case I think we should keep the article for Taliska, similarly as we have articles for Gnomish and Noldorin, specially because the next Parma Eldalamberon is supposed to be Taliska materials.--LorenzoCB (talk) 09:45, 17 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hello again! Checking the sources, I found this:

But nought is preserved of the most ancient speeches of Men, save of the tongue of the folk of Beor and Haleth and Hador. Now the language of these folk was greatly influenced by the Green-elves, and it was of old named Taliska.
The Lhammas, p. 179

Does this quote indicate that Taliska actually was the mother-tongue of all the Edain without exception? If so, then the whole OVOTL section must be rewritten entirely, because then the sentence like "name 'Taliska' originally referred to the language of the Houses of Bëor and Haleth whereas it was the House of Hador that spoke another language" is just not true. --Ar-Zigûr (talk) 16:09, 17 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
