Analysis upon release

I think it's apparent that on the day of release there's going to be a lot of interest in reviews of the book, what it contains, etc. I think it would be a good idea if we could get a group of users together who plan on having the book in hand on the release day and we can collaborate on an article for every chapter which could contain an analysis of the chapter, a synopsis, etc. We could also make available reviews of the book which will most likely be pouring in. If you're interested, sign your name below. --Hyarion 01:46, 1 March 2007 (EST)

I am interested, but I don't know if I'll be able to get the book on the release day. But if I do, I most certainly will help you in writing the article. --Legolas 09:51, 1 March 2007 (EST)

I'm looking forward to the release as well and I'll certainly be interested in adding to the article(s). Erniel 10:32, 2 March 2007 (EST)

Featured article?

I don't want to offend anyone, and I know the FA system isn't really very well used, but does this article really deserve to be featured? I couldn't find any discussion of it at Tolkien Gateway:Featured articles, and it consists entirely of some lists and a copy-and-pasted press release. Surely calling an article with next to no original content one of TG's best is a bit of an insult to the many other fine, non-featured articles here (and their editors)? —Aulë the Smith (Tk·Cb) 23:41, 13 August 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It's not a featured article any more (the current one is the well-deserved Glamdring), but was our featured article from 21 September 2006 to 1 June 2008. It was selected by Hyarion (before articles were elected) when the site was stile quite and The Children of Húrin more topical - part of Hyarion's efforts to raise our profile. --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 00:13, 14 August 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well it is still in Category:Featured Articles, which by analogy to Wikipedia I understand to be "a category containing the wiki's best articles, which are also eligible for rotation onto the front page". If it was just a 'publicity' thing from two years ago I think I'll remove it. —Aulë the Smith (Tk·Cb) 08:38, 14 August 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
We aren't Wikipedia, and it was a Featured Article (for nearly two years), regardless of its questionable quality. It should stay in that category for now. --Mith (Talk/Contribs/Edits) 08:57, 14 August 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes, it should remain in that category as it has been one of our featured articles. However the article really needs improving.-- KingAragorn  talk  contribs  edits  email  13:42, 14 August 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
