The part explaining the scarring of the moon has been published in the Silmarillion in the chapter "Of the Sun and Moon and the Hiding of Valinor". In the Silmarillion it is said that Tilion was drawn towards Arien because of her splendour.--Legolas 08:09, 13 December 2007 (EST)
