- "Hinds" is not a type of animals, a "hind" is a female (red) deer. What's special about the deer encountered in Mirkwood is that they are white (seemingly inspired by the white deer of Celtic and Irish mythologies).--Morgan 21:03, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
